Do I need permission to launch a sky lantern?
In most cases no, but if you are situated near a coastline or airport, call your local authorities for advice and authorisation.
Where’s the best place to launch sky lanterns?
We recommend an area with open space away from trees, power cables or buildings; we also recommend launching on a clear evening for maximum visibility.
What weather conditions are best for launching sky lanterns?
In order to launch a lantern successfully, the key conditions are dry and calm. The wind must not exceed 5 mph otherwise the lantern will be blown off course. Do not launch lanterns when raining as this will only create resistance on the lanterns flight path. The rain will also damage your lantern too.
What’s the best way to write on the sky lantern?
We recommend using a ‘sharpie’ or a large felt tip pen. Place the lantern on a flat even surface but make sure it’s not dirty or damp. To get the best results when writing, put minimal pressure on the lantern to prevent tearing.
How high do the sky lanterns fly and for how long?
Sky Lanterns fly and can be visible for approximately 5 – 10 minutes. The sky lanterns can reach heights of between 200m and 500m in optimal conditions.
Is the sky lantern ready to be used?
Our lanterns are packaged with a silica gel packet which removes moisture from the sky lanterns. This does not damage the paper nor the fuel pad. This helps ensure the lantern is dry and ready for use when you open it.
